There are some days that feel ordinary, and then there are days that feel like they’ll stay with you forever. The day The Donna Drake Show filmed inside our Manhattan clinic was one of those unforgettable days—a moment that allowed us to step back, reflect, and share our heart with the world.
Broadcast to more than 30 million households nationwide and filmed right here at our Fifth Avenue practice, the segment offered an honest, emotional, and deeply educational look at why ESSE Care exists—and why we believe so strongly in the future of whole-person gynecologic care.
Behind the Cameras, Real Stories Unfolded
The segment offered a rare window into what we do here at ESSE Care—and more importantly, why we do it.
Sitting down with Donna, Dr. Karli Provost Goldstein shared the story behind ESSE’s founding: her own personal journey through endometriosis, years of misdiagnosis, multiple surgeries, and the relentless search for more holistic, whole-body healing.
“When I was a patient, I was always searching for things… acupuncturists, nutritionists,” she told Donna. “It’s a lot on the patient—it’s so much research you have to do on your own.”
For those of us who know Dr. Goldstein well, it was no surprise that she brought her full, open-hearted self to the conversation. She spoke from the gut—about pain, persistence, and the belief that patients deserve more than procedures. They deserve a plan, a path forward, and a place where they don’t have to prove their pain.
Dr. Leigh Rosen: Bringing Grace and Clarity to Complex Care
As the segment continued, viewers got to meet Dr. Leigh Rosen, MD, whose years of surgical excellence have made her a trusted guide for patients navigating structural causes of infertility, fibroids, abnormal bleeding, and more.
Dr. Rosen described the difference in patient care at ESSE Care, where everyone on staff is dedicated to enhancing the patient experience.
“A lot of people I meet have had experiences in the past with their gynecologist where the communication wasn’t so great or they didn’t really feel heard or respected,” said Dr. Rosen. “So being able to make them feel comfortable is really rewarding.”
What the Cameras Didn’t Show, but We Felt Deeply
This segment wasn’t flashy. It didn’t need to be. The most powerful moments unfolded naturally: when Dr. Goldstein described endometriosis as a “constellation map” of symptoms, guiding her to where disease may be hiding. Or when Dr. Rosen talked about the patients who send her photos of their babies after having a surgery with her and finally being able to get pregnant.
Those are the moments we wanted to share with the world.
Because if one woman sitting at home with unexplained pelvic pain saw this segment and thought, “Maybe it’s not in my head,” then it was worth every second.
These moments reminded us why we do what we do. Not for the press, not for the accolades—but for the women who’ve spent years advocating for themselves in a system that too often overlooks them.
Sharing the Message: Surgery Isn’t the End of the Story
At ESSE Care, we believe that excellent surgery is just the beginning. What happens after surgery—how you heal, how you’re supported, how you feel in your own body again—matters just as much. That’s why we’ve built a practice around integrative, collaborative care.
From acupuncture and pelvic floor therapy to hormone support and trauma-informed mental health care, we partner with providers across every specialty to offer seamless, whole-person healing. This segment gave us the chance to show the world what that kind of care can look like—and how deeply it can change lives.
