ESSE Care Joins Global Leaders at the 8th European Endometriosis Congress in Bologna

Dr. Karli Provost Goldstein addresses international delegates on collaboration, whole-person care, and the future of endometriosis treatment.

ESSE Care participated in the 8th European Endometriosis Congress, held April 23–25, 2026, at Palazzo Re Enzo in Bologna, Italy, joining an international community of clinicians, surgeons, researchers, and patient advocates dedicated to advancing the diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis.

The landmark congress brought together 784 in-person participants from 56 countries, 364 online course participants, and hundreds of submitted abstracts, reflecting the growing global urgency around improving care for people living with endometriosis and adenomyosis.

ESSE Care founder and fellowship-trained minimally invasive gynecologic surgeon Karli Provost Goldstein, DO, FACOG attended the congress and delivered private remarks during the official congress dinner at Palazzo Re Enzo. The invitation-only gathering brought together approximately 250 international delegates for an evening focused on collaboration, scientific exchange, and shared commitment to improving endometriosis care.

“Endometriosis teaches us that it is not enough to be excellent in a single field,” Dr. Goldstein said in her remarks. “This is a multi-organ, multi-system disease. Surgery alone is not enough, no matter how precise, nerve-sparing, and advanced it may be. Research and medical therapy alone are not enough, no matter how innovative. We need something greater. We need collaboration.”

The scientific program highlighted emerging developments across diagnostics, surgery, fertility, pain management, and patient advocacy. Live surgical programming from Bologna, Bordeaux, and Avellino—along with sessions on AI-driven diagnostics, organoids, endometriosis-on-a-chip, non-invasive biomarkers, and neuropelveology—underscored the rapidly evolving landscape of endometriosis care.

For ESSE Care, participation in the congress reflected a central belief of the practice: that meaningful progress in endometriosis care requires not only technical excellence but also multidisciplinary collaboration and a deep respect for the patient experience. Dr. Goldstein spoke as both a surgeon and a former patient, emphasizing the uncertainty, pain, and frustration that many patients face before receiving comprehensive care.

“Behind every clinical case there is a person,” Dr. Goldstein said. “And that person deserves the very best we can offer—together.”

ESSE Care’s approach integrates advanced gynecologic surgery with supportive, whole-person care, including collaboration across disciplines such as pelvic floor physical therapy, nutrition, hormonal management, acupuncture, fertility care, and surgical specialties. Dr. Goldstein’s remarks reinforced that endometriosis care is not a single intervention but rather a journey focused on restoring anatomy, quality of life, and trust in one’s body.

As the global endometriosis community looks ahead, ESSE Care remains committed to contributing to the conversation and advocating for collaborative models of care that recognize the complexity of the disease and the lived experience of every patient. ESSE Care’s presence at EEC 2026 underscored its commitment to advancing earlier recognition, more precise treatment, and more compassionate care for patients navigating the disease.
