Appendiceal Pathology in Women with Endometriosis

Dr. Karli Goldstein and colleagues report 47% of women with pelvic endometriosis had abnormal appendiceal pathology, supporting routine appendix inspection at surgery.

Dr. Karli Provost Goldstein (publishing as KP Goldstein) and colleagues at Lenox Hill Hospital present a retrospective case series in JMIG reporting that 47.3% of 40 women with pelvic endometriosis also had abnormal appendiceal pathology — including appendiceal endometriosis, carcinoid tumors, and acute appendicitis — supporting routine inspection of the appendix during endometriosis surgery.
